Senior Android Software Engineer (f/m/d)

We are looking for an Android Software Engineer for our team which builds the next generation of Porsche’s in-vehicle infotainment system from the ground up, providing our customer’s an elevated driver experience. 

You will be part of a cross-functional product team and will be based in Ludwigsburg or Berlin, Germany. In your role you will contribute to the product success by developing state-of-the art Android-based automotive products. Furthermore, you will be involved in all aspects of the product development process for new Porsche infotainment services and driving experiences including initiating new product ideas, creating and evaluating concepts, building technical proof of concepts and delivering products to our customers.  

The Android-Product Team is part of our Portfolio Vehicle. Within this Portfolio we work in cross-functional product teams across the globe, to develop premium customized Porsche services which are integrated seamlessly into existing digital life of our customers. WHAT YOUR TASKS ARE

As an Infotainment Software Engineer, you’ll be a vital part of our agile team, shaping the future of Porsche’s infotainment UI. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Design and implement Android Automotive apps in Kotlin, covering both UI and business logic and ensure seamless performance across various in-car displays
  • User Interface Excellence: Craft interactive and responsive user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and connect these interfaces to vehicle APIs for a seamless user experience
  • Lead and define technical strategies for the team, including architectural decisions, testing approaches, and tooling
  • Coach and mentor fellow software developers, fostering a collaborative environment
  • Contribute your code, software design, and innovative ideas to enhance the Porsche Infotainment software stack
  • Quality Assurance: Write tests, perform code reviews, and ensure high-quality code in a continuous integration (CI) environment
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, architects, and other stakeholders
  • Translate requirements into effective technical solutions within the product backlog
  • Tech Trends and Innovation: Stay informed about new technologies & infotainment trends, and keep your finger on the pulse of solutions that can elevate our software stack.
  • Test your implemented features rigorously—on your computer, a test bench, and in actual vehicles. 

WHAT YOU BRING ALONG

  • several years of professional experience in software development (mobile or automotive)
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience in Android technologies (Kotlin, Jetpack, Compose, Coroutines, Dagger, Gradle etc.) 
  • Solid understanding of Android SDK, App architecture and general software design
  • Experience with unit, integration and UI testing (Android testing frameworks)
  • Hands-on knowledge of building pipelines, CI/CD, and software lifecycle
  • Advocate clean code and architecture
  • Experience in automotive is a plus, but not required
  • Experience in Android platform development is a plus, but not required
  • Experience in C++/Qt/QML development is a plus, but not required
  • Hands-on experience with Scrum / Agile work environment
  • Self-driven and motivated to get things done
  • You think about “why we are doing this”
  • Strong communication and organizational skills  
  • Fluent in English  
  • Fluent in German is a plus
